About

Elizabeth Hobbs is an animated filmmaker based in London.  Her films are created under a rostrum camera using traditional animation techniques, whilst stretching the material possibilities of the medium.  In the production of her films she has used relief print on 35mm film, butterfly prints, images created with a typewriter and paint on a bathroom tile.  The films are often based on historical figures or literary adaptations.   Her films have travelled widely to international film festivals and won many awards. Her film I’m OK was nominated for a BAFTA in 2019, and The Debutante was shortlisted for an Academy Award. In 2020, she was invited to become a member of the Short Films and Feature Animation branch of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.  Elizabeth has been Senior Tutor at The National Film & Television School since September 2022, and she is an Associate Lecturer on the MA in Animation at London College of Communication.
