Animate the World at the Barbican

One of the highlights in my annual workshop calendar is Animate the World, the Barbican education people are v kind to us freelance animation workshop leaders. Despite predictions of a piping hot weekend I bet the workshops will be good and busy, Polly and I are making animations in a day with young people. We are using Karel Zeman’s 1958 film Invention of Destruction as our inspiration, the special effects are extraordinary. It’s about an evil megalomaniac who kidnaps an inventor and his assistant and forces them to build a machine that could destroy the world. It makes my heart race even reading that synopsis, so if you’re not sitting on Londonfields playing your bloody bongos tomorrow night, you could go and see it at the Barbican?
